Constructive Journalism As A Catalyst For Endogenous Development In China

Beijing: In the People’s Republic of China, authorities strongly encourage constructive journalism, a genre that emphasizes solutions for endogenous development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Professor Zhang Yanquiu, in a paper on constructive journalism, explained the importance of this model in building stable socio-political development in the People’s Republic of China. Constructive journalism is based on three fundamentals: solutions, nuance, and conversation.

This model emphasizes solutions rather than problems, aiming to inform the masses instead of presenting only difficulties without perspective. Situations are analyzed in a nuanced manner, highlighting positive aspects, with the objective of preserving social cohesion.

Professor Zhang asserts that the media should not solely act as a counter-power to governments but should support development actions. In China, for instance, issues like corruption are addressed by relevant institutions. A robust governance mechanism ensures annual monitoring of public sector finances, with detailed reports produced to guarantee transparency.

The media is urged to contribute to identifying problems and proposing solutions, enabling populations to progress with serenity and social cohesion for harmonious development. It should be noted that China does not share the Western vision of the media, which is based on unlimited freedom of broadcasting, sometimes at the expense of social cohesion, as explained by the professor.

Constructive journalism represents a new journalistic impetus that China has embraced to advance its journey towards strengthened sovereignty.
