Kiambu: The Kiambu County Youth Talent and Innovation Event 2025 kicked off with auditions across various zones, marking a celebration of youth creativity and empowerment. This initiative aligns with International Youth Day 2025, adopting the theme ‘Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future; Empowering Youth, Building Tomorrow.’
According to Kenya News Agency, Zone One auditions were hosted at Christiana Garden in Thika Municipality. Youth from Gatundu South, Gatundu North, and Thika Sub-counties showcased their skills in categories such as Creative Arts, Sports, Youth in Agriculture, Tech Innovation, and participated in the Mr. and Miss Youth Kiambu County Pageant.
The Zone Two auditions occurred on Saturday, August 17, 2025, at Githurai Market in Ruiru Sub-County. Participants from Juja, Ruiru, and Kiambu Sub-counties demonstrated their talents in music, fine arts, fashion and design, poetry, sports, agriculture, and technology innovation.
Event categories included Creative Arts, sports competitions, youth in agriculture showcases, tech innovation presentations, and the Mr. and Miss Youth Kiambu County Pageant. Ali Osman, County Executive Committee Member for Youth Affairs, Sports and Communication, attended the Zone One auditions and reiterated the county government’s dedication to youth empowerment and talent development.
Grace Wanjiku, a young fashion designer from Ruiru who took part in the Zone Two auditions, shared her enthusiasm about the platform provided to showcase her designs and network with other talented youth.
Winners from Zone One and Zone Two will advance to represent their regions at the Grand County Event on August 29, 2025, at the Kiambu County Headquarters. Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi will be the chief guest at this event.
Zone Three auditions are scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Kikuyu Town at the new bus park. Participants will come from Kiambaa, Kikuyu, and Kabete Sub-counties.
The event’s three-zone approach ensures fair participation across Kiambu County, offering young people from all sub-counties the chance to showcase their talents and compete for county-level recognition. This initiative highlights the county government’s strategic focus on youth development, viewing talent cultivation and innovation support as crucial for a sustainable and prosperous future for Kiambu County.
