A Maracana Final in Bittou to Strengthen Social Cohesion


Bittou: The final of the Maracana football tournament called ‘Vacances foot’, initiated by gendarme Abdoul Razark Lougu© of the Bittou territorial brigade, was played on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the town’s multipurpose hall. Under the theme “Youth of Bittou united around football”, the competition aimed to promote social cohesion, strengthen bonds of solidarity, and revive local sporting activities, which have been undermined by insecurity.



According to Burkina Information Agency, in the final, the Espoir 17 team defeated Tout-Puissant by a goal to nil, winning the trophy, medals, and a prize of 60,000 CFA francs. Tout-Puissant, the unfortunate finalist, took home 40,000 CFA francs and balls. The third-place team received 20,000 CFA francs plus balls, while the fourth-place team received 10,000 CFA francs and balls.



The ceremony brought together local and traditional authorities and residents from surrounding villages and areas. The event’s patron, Naaba Kibkorgho, chief of Bittou, praised the initiative, which he described as a lever for social cohesion, while thanking young people for their commitment to sport, a unifying factor.



The promoter, Abdoul Razark Lougu©, expressed his gratitude to the local authorities and residents for their strong turnout. The tournament kicked off on July 17 with 16 teams competing.
