Alino Faso Laid to Rest Amid Reflections and Tributes


Ouagadougou: Alino Faso, whose real name was Alain Christophe Traoré, was announced dead under troubled circumstances in Côte d’Ivoire on July 24, 2025. He was honored by the Burkinabe nation and now rests in the municipal cemetery of Gounghin. After the reception of his remains on Monday, August 18, 2025, and an evening of tribute on Thursday, August 21, Alain Christophe Traoré, known as Alino Faso, was accompanied to his final resting place on Saturday, August 23, by the entire nation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Raïssa Compaoré, a friend of the deceased, expressed that he was always there for others, and it was a duty to accompany him to his final resting place. She lamented that his greatest wish was to return to his country, although not in the manner hoped, and this deeply affected those who knew him.

Compaoré hoped that Alino Faso would be remembered for his altruism, service, and efforts to support internally displaced people, widows, and orphans. Serge Poda, a friend and collaborator,
noted Alino Faso’s availability, attentiveness, and commitment. He described him as a philanthropist who left a legacy of love and generosity towards others and his country.

Ismaila Zongo, also known as Papus Zongo, a cultural figure and former collaborator, noted that Alino Faso symbolized life and was dynamic, wearing many hats. His passing was a shock to many Burkinabè. Zongo highlighted that Alino’s contributions transcended various sectors and borders and described him as someone who loved people and brought joy into their lives.

The burial proceedings began with the lifting of Alino Faso’s remains at the Bogodogo morgue, followed by a procession to St. Camille Church for absolution and blessings. Relatives, friends, colleagues, and people from across Burkina Faso gathered to pay their respects and pray for his soul.

Noura Traoré, Alino Faso’s younger sister, expressed gratitude to the Burkinabe people for their support following his death. She emphasized the importance of upholding the values Alain e
mbodied, such as truth, justice, and solidarity, and encouraged others to perpetuate his legacy by living these values and passing them on to future generations. The memory of Alino Faso will endure in the hearts of the people through the values of solidarity, justice, courage, and dignity.
