More than an event, it is a catalyst for ideas and solutions to empower women. The African Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF), now in its 9th edition in Kigali, aims to be Africa’s beacon for entrepreneurship and is a powerful platform bringing together thought leaders, policymakers, development partners, and stakeholders in the African entrepreneurship ecosystem for high -level discussions on Africa’s economic development challenges and solutions.
“By bringing together a diverse group of business owners, leaders, and communities from across Africa and beyond, the AWIEF event serves as a powerful catalyst for promoting intra-Africa trade, highlighting innovations and achievements, and fostering networking opportunities,” the organizers said in a press release.
With the theme, “Leveraging the Power of the Digital Economy: Innovate, Redefine, Empower,” this year’s event aims to boost inclusivity, enhance partnerships, and empower the contributions of women to the digital economy.
“We are excited to be bringing the 9th edition of our annual conference to East Africa for the first time and especially Kigali, one of the most exciting cities in Africa right now,” said AWIEF Founder and CEO, Irene Ochem. “We are looking forward to advancing our efforts in connecting the African and global entrepreneurship ecosystem in this significant hub for business, technology, and innovation.”
“As a country that understands the critical role of women in national development and transformation, Rwanda is delighted to host the 9th Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) Conference and Awards, in November, said Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire . “We will be particularly interested in discussing practical solutions to accelerate Africa’s inclusive digital transformation and contribute to closing the gender gap.”
