Banwa: The High Commissioner of the Banwa province, Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, carried out a field trip to visit the 600 hectares of lowlands developed as part of the agro-pastoral and fishing offensive, in the bushes of Verasuy and Avionso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit took place on Friday, July 11, 2025, and was aimed at supporting rice farmers who have benefited from free ploughing services. The province’s top official, accompanied by several directors, department heads, and technicians from the Agriculture Department, made a stop at the developed lowland of Sylver Coulibaly in Verasuy, situated in the commune of Solenzo.
During the visit, Mr. Sirima emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “I came to see how the work is progressing and to encourage you to do more to keep hunger out of our borders. I will be back in September for the harvest, so we must redouble our efforts.”
The 75-hectare developed lowland in Verasuy is expected to yield a production of 500 tonnes by the end of the winter season. Sylver Coulibaly, a local rice farmer, expressed that the visit serves as a motivation for producers to transform the province into a significant agricultural hub for Faso.
After concluding his visit in Verasuy, Mr. Sirima proceeded to Avionso, also located in the municipality of Solenzo, to better understand the challenges faced by the producers. Several hectares in Avionso were also included in the visit.
