Bougouriba Blood Donation Drive Boosts Gaoua Blood Bank Supplies


Bougouriba: The Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB), Bougouriba section, held a blood donation event at the Di©bougou “D” public primary school courtyard to support the Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS) of Gaoua in the Dj´r´ region. This initiative aimed to enhance blood availability in local healthcare facilities.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event attracted numerous volunteers and was managed by the technical team from the CRTS of Gaoua. The team emphasized the importance of solidarity and community engagement for the success of the blood drive. Dr. Isma«l Songzabr©, a general practitioner and the head of the collection team, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, highlighting the critical need for blood due to the ongoing security challenges in the region, which often leave newborns, injured individuals, and other patients without adequate supplies.



Cheikh Saabane Simia, deputy coordinator of the FAIB Bougouriba section, praised the community’s participation and stressed the organization’s dedication to continuing these efforts. Simia noted that this was the third time FAIB had organized such events, underscoring the life-saving importance of blood donations. He committed to increasing the frequency of these drives to ensure hospitals have sufficient blood supplies, aiming for two to three events annually.



This blood drive forms part of FAIB’s broader social initiatives to bolster the local healthcare system. Organizers urged volunteers to contribute to reducing mortality rates associated with blood shortages, reinforcing the vital role of community involvement in healthcare support.
