The Cuban ambassador, Dr.C. Raúl de la Peña Silva, participated in the International Event for Africa Day held at the PAIGC headquarters in Bissau, as part of the festivities program for such a significant event, with the presence of the President of the party, Hon. . Mr. Ing. Domingo Simoes Pereira, the Political Bureau, a representation of the Central Committee, militants and the fighters for Freedom.
The event was divided into three panels, the first on the Pan-Africanist Movement in the Struggle Against Neocolonialism, the second on Pan-Africanism and the World Socialist Movement, and the third on the role of women fighting for unity and against Neocolonialism.
The Ambassador of Cuba accredited in the country, in his speech, thanked the solidarity and international support received from the African Party for the Independence of Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC) and the social movements of the brotherly people of Guinea Bissau during these long and hard years of struggle against the blockade and trusts that it will continue to have their support as they have massively expressed this afternoon.
He highlighted the hundreds of Cuban collaborators who have provided their services in Guinea Bissau, in the sectors of health, education, sports, agriculture and many others, and highlighted as an example the Medical Brigade that makes up the faculty of the Faculty “Raúl Díaz Argüelles”, developing a training program of excellence, through which the dreams of young Guineans come true and make them protagonists of the health system of this sister country.
In the conclusions of the event, Eng. Domingo Simoes Pereira reiterated his position of condemning the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba more than 60 years ago, an unjust, failed and genocidal policy that no longer makes any sense because they have not been able to destroy the Cuban Revolution and through these years of struggle, Cuba has become a symbol of residence and has achieved, with its internationalist vocation of sharing what it has, that the majority of the countries of the world are in favor of immediately lifting the criminal blockade of the USA of North America.
Next, the President of the PAIGC signified that Cuba has been able to control the COVID-19 pandemic, with three vaccines and two vaccine candidates developed by its scientists and whose effectiveness is comparable to the best in the world, being one of the countries in the planet with the highest percentage of immunized population; all this despite the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
He concluded by pointing out that the Cuban Revolution will never be defeated due to its ideological solidity, its policy of principles and the courage of its people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba.
