Djoro: The Regional Directorate of Education Celebrates Academic Excellence in Gaoua


Djoro: The Regional Directorate of National, Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education of Djoro organized its regional day of academic excellence, 2025 edition, in the amphitheater of the INFPE of Gaoua on Saturday. Placed under the patronage of the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda, and the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Serge Poda, the ceremony was chaired by the Governor of the Djoro region, Siaka Barro, and sponsored by Their Majesties the Canton Chiefs of Gaoua and Irdiaka. The event was attended by administrative, military, customary, and religious authorities.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the theme: “Promoting academic excellence and strengthening educational resilience for endogenous development of Djoro.” Governor Barro praised the merit and resilience of teachers and congratulated students for their excellent results. He encouraged other teachers to strive for recognition in the following year and expressed his hope that the Djoro region would rank among the best in Burkina Faso in terms of educational results during the 2025-2026 academic year. The governor assured that efforts would be made to support teachers and students to ensure optimal working conditions.



The Regional Director of National, Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education of Djoro, Sie Pale, outlined three main objectives for organizing the day: recognizing the merit of education system actors, generating healthy emulation, and improving the region’s overall performance, with an ambition to exceed the current success rate of 88.49% in future sessions. He called on all education system stakeholders to commit and show resilience to make the 2025-2026 school year successful despite challenges.



Awards were presented to the best teacher in each of the region’s four provinces, the best students (one girl and one boy per province), students with disabilities, the best data entry operators, Basic Education Districts (CEB) with a success rate over 95%, and the best literacy center facilitators. The best Early Childhood Education and Awareness Centers (CEEP) and new Non-Formal Basic Education Centers (CEBNF), which face material difficulties, received food supplies. Prizes included motorcycles, bicycles, school kits, certificates of recognition, boxes of oars, and bags of rice.
