Ouagadougou: The Association of Professional Mechanics of Burkina Faso (AGPB) handed over 10 tons of cement on Saturday to support city beautification initiatives initiated as part of the Faso Mªbo presidential initiative.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on the morning of August 23, several members of the Association of Professional Mechanics of Burkina (AGPB) temporarily abandoned their workshops and machinery for repair to meet at the national headquarters in Faso Mªbo, where they helped with the production and transport of paving stones.
At the end of this activity, the association donated ten tons of cement as a contribution to this national cause. “We are all Burkinab¨ and called to build the nation. No one will come and build our country for us,” declared the first vice-president of the AGPB, Mamoudou Maga, who also praised the generosity of its members.
For his part, Somkieta Moussa Konf©, a member of the board, congratulated the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, for “this brilliant idea” and assured that the association will take ownership of the initiative for the development of Burkina Faso. According to him, Faso Mªbo demonstrates to the world that Burkinabe people, united and supportive, are capable of building their country without outside assistance. He added that the association will return, according to its means, for other contributions.
As a reminder, the Faso Mªbo initiative, adopted on October 16, 2024, by the Council of Ministers, aims to build low-cost road infrastructure as well as urban planning, including decent housing, sanitation, and the creation of green spaces.
