Foreign Minister of Guinea Bissau ratifies his support for Cuba in the fight against the Blockade imposed by the United States government

The Guinean Minister of Foreign Business, International Cooperation and Communities, Dr. Suzi Carla Barbosa, received the Cuban ambassador accredited in the country, Dr. C Raúl de la Peña Silva; with the aim of dealing with some issues of bilateral relations, among which the collaboration in the area of ​​health, the situation of the pandemic in both countries and the experiences in their confrontation stand out.

On this occasion, the Minister recognized that the Faculty of Medicine is one of the university institutions in Guinea Bissau with the highest academic, teaching, educational and scientific level, as a result of the experience accumulated in medical teaching in more than 35 years of work in the country. ; She highlighted that it is the only career that her training takes place in most of the regions of the Guinean geography.

The ambassador offered a broad explanation of the current economic situation in the country, the confrontation with COVID-19 by the government and the people; He also offered him details about the explosion that occurred at the supertanker base in the Matanzas industrial zone, causing considerable damage. At the same time, he thanked the shows of solidarity from Cuba’s friendly groups, the government and the President of the ANP.

The Minister recognized the work carried out by the Cuban Medical Brigade in her country and thanked the government and people of Cuba for the collaboration offered to Guinea Bissau in the training of medical professionals to help improve the health levels of the people.

Finally, the Ambassador thanked the government and people of Guinea Bissau for their support to Cuba in its fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government that has lasted more than 60 years. The Minister reiterated that the government of Guinea Bissau will be, as always, by Cuba’s side with its vote of support for the elimination of this archaic and illegal policy of sanctions that only causes suffering to the Cuban people.

Both diplomats expressed the political will of the parties to continue working with a view to further strengthening bilateral relations, including expanding cooperation in public health and in other spheres, as well as continuing mutual support on issues of interest. of both governments.
