Friendship Visit to Mali: Prime Minister Listens to the Diaspora


Bamako: As part of his friendship visit to Bamako, the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo, met with the Burkinabe community living in Mali on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Held at the Embassy of Burkina Faso, the meeting took place in a friendly and fraternal atmosphere, providing a space for direct exchanges on the main concerns of the jurisdiction’s compatriots.



According to Burkina Information Agency, in her introductory remarks, the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Mali, Julienne Dembel© n©e Sanon, expressed her gratitude to the Head of Government for the attention paid to the diaspora. She praised the recent organization of a consular mission, which has enabled many Burkinabe to regularize their documents, while advocating for the dispatch of a new mission to address persistent needs. The community representative, for his part, denounced the harassment encountered during routine checks and at the borders.



The Prime Minister, attentive to the grievances, was keen to reassure his compatriots. He praised the contribution of Burkinabe citizens in Mali to the development of both countries and recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to strengthen the involvement of the diaspora in the country’s ongoing development initiatives. Regarding administrative documents, he outlined short-term solutions, such as sending consular missions, before announcing that the dematerialization process already underway will soon make it possible to obtain certain essential documents without having to travel to Burkina Faso. Deploring the harassment at the borders, he reiterated that it is not worthy of the vision of integration defended by the leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).



“Be good Burkinabe citizens, because being Burkinabe means being honest,” he made a vibrant appeal. The meeting ended on a note of trust and hope, illustrating the continued strengthening of ties between the Burkinabe state and its diaspora in Mali.
