Governor Bassinga Engages with Patriotic Immersion Participants in Nouna

Nouna: The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, visited the provincial high school of Nouna on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to assess the progress of the patriotic immersion program.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Bassinga’s visit was accompanied by a large delegation aiming to learn about the ongoing patriotic immersion in Kossi. The meeting commenced with the singing of the anthem of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), setting a formal tone for the proceedings. High Commissioner of Kossi, Noufo Dembel©, welcomed the delegation from D©dougou, after which Governor Bassinga explained the context behind the patriotic immersion initiative. This program targets students who recently passed their school exams, focusing on final-year students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The patriotic immersion is part of President Ibrahim Traor©’s vision to cultivate a generation of students deeply committed to their homeland. This vision emphasizes training in civic education, patriotic instruction, and military discipline for young baccalaureate holders in Burkina Faso. Governor Bassinga highlighted the role of instructors in instilling discipline and teaching the AES anthem to students participating in the program.

During the visit, students Yimien Salom© and Reine Koeta inquired about the mandatory nature of the patriotic immersion for enrollment in public and private universities. Additionally, Jonas Kon©, a visually impaired student, raised concerns regarding the lack of Braille instruction at the University of D©dougou. In response, Raoul Sanon, the regional director in charge of secondary education in Bankui, advised Kon© to draft a letter to the supervising minister to seek better support.

Governor Bassinga acknowledged the efforts of those involved in the program, including nurses, teachers, and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), offering them encouragement. Before meeting with the students, Governor Bassinga paid a courtesy visit to customary and religious authorities. The visit concluded on a hopeful note as the delegation bid farewell to the participants.
