Koup©la: SEPB Holds Open Day to Enhance Community Cohesion


Koup©la: The Soci©t© d’exploitation des phosphates du Burkina (SEPB) organized the second edition of its open day at the company’s fertilizer blending plant in Bassem-Poessin, Koup©la. The event aimed to unite stakeholders and local communities for development and collective well-being.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was attended by Moctar Ilboudo, High Commissioner of the Kourittenga province, along with administrative, customary, and religious authorities. The day featured awareness sessions on environmental protection and sexually transmitted diseases, reforestation efforts with the planting of 200 seedlings, a blood donation drive, and a guided tour of the fertilizer plant.



Dr. Jean Ou©draogo, Director General of SEPB, expressed his gratitude to stakeholders for contributing to the success of the event. He highlighted plans to provide training for women and develop a gender action plan to support women’s associations and improve access to drinking water.



Dr. Ou©draogo also mentioned the factory’s diverse product range, including specific fertilizers for rice and corn, which have boosted yields by more than 10% and reduced fertilizer usage by one bag per hectare. He urged for continued collaboration between the community and plant stakeholders.



Dieudonn© Traor©, chairman of SEPB’s board, emphasized the event’s role in promoting government actions towards achieving food sovereignty and fulfilling social and environmental responsibilities.



Moctar Ilboudo praised SEPB officials and participants for their contributions to regional well-being and the province’s development.
