Poni: More than 500 women were sensitized and screened for female cancers at the Kampti Medical Center and the CSPS of Galgouli, thanks to the Djoro mobile clinic, as part of the month of Pink October.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in just 48 hours, the Djoro medical team visited the CSPS of Galgouli on October 20 and the Medical Center (CM) of Kampti on October 21, 2025, to offer various free services to women. In total, 520 women were sensitized, including 170 in Galgouli and 350 in Kampti. Among them, 278 benefited from the IVA test coupled with breast palpation, 164 received obstetric and pelvic ultrasounds, and 129 benefited from breast ultrasounds or mammograms, including one suspected case detected.
The chief physician of the Kampti health district, Dr. Ziem Dabire, stated that these activities are part of the Pink October month, dedicated to the fight against women’s cancers. He indicated that the objective is to bring screening closer to rural populations and give every woman the opportunity to know her health status for early treatment.
The coordinator of the Kampti Medical Center, Yao Sanle Moussa, welcomed the initiative of the first health authorities as well as the strong mobilization of women, proof, according to him, of the growing awareness around women’s cancers. He noted a significant interest, with many women coming, some even traveling several kilometers to be examined.
Ms. Kambou Hevanirenan, a participant in the Kampti session, expressed her satisfaction with the welcome and support she received. She mentioned it was her first time having a mammogram and left feeling reassured, encouraging other women to come for screening. She emphasized that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
This initiative is part of the efforts of the mobile clinic, in partnership with the Kampti health district, to improve women’s health and effectively combat cervical and breast cancer in the Southwest region.
