Nouna: The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, visited the provincial high school of Nouna on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to learn about the progress of the patriotic immersion program.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor was accompanied by a large delegation during his visit to understand the ongoing patriotic immersion activities in Kossi. The event commenced with the chorus of the anthem of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). The High Commissioner of the province of Kossi, Noufo Dembel©, welcomed the delegation from D©dougou, after which the governor explained the reasons for establishing the patriotic immersion for students who have passed their school exams, particularly those in their final year for the 2024-2025 school year.
The initiative was introduced by President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, to cultivate a new type of student who loves their homeland and is capable of defending it through commitment. This includes training in civic and patriotic instruction and military discipline for young baccalaureate holders, within the framework of patriotic immersion. The program aims to instill national pride and discipline among the youth of Burkina Faso.
Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga expressed gratitude to the instructors for their contributions, including the memorization of the AES anthem and instilling discipline among the students. Queries were raised by participants, such as Yimien Salom© and Reine Koeta, about the necessity of patriotic immersion as a prerequisite for university enrollment. Jonas Kon©, a visually impaired individual, inquired about the support for his disability at the University of D©dougou, given the lack of Braille instruction.
In response, the regional director in charge of secondary education in Bankui, Raoul Sanon, advised Jonas Kon© to draft a letter to be submitted to the supervising minister for better support. The nurses, teachers, and Defense and Security Forces (FDS) involved in the program received encouragement from the governor for their dedication.
Governor Bassinga also paid a courtesy visit to the local customary and religious authorities before engaging with the participants of the immersion. The visit concluded on a hopeful note as the delegation departed.
