Regional Consultations on Land Transport Open in Tenkodogo

Tenkodogo: The Nakamb© region hosted the official opening of the regional consultations on the General Assembly of Land Transport, focusing on the theme: “Land Transport and Resilience in a Context of Security Crisis in Burkina Faso: State of Play and Perspectives”. These regional meetings, chaired by the Governor of the region, Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, are part of a national dynamic of consultation aimed at rethinking the future of land transport in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional consultations will provide an opportunity to listen to stakeholders in the sector, analyze the realities on the ground, and propose avenues for improvement tailored to the security and socio-economic context of the country. Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, in his speech at the opening ceremony, emphasized that land transport constitutes both a challenge and an opportunity for the territorial jurisdiction.

The challenges arise from issues related to the safety of people and property, the fluidity of mobility, and the continuity of trade. However, it also presents opportunities for modernizing infrastructure, improving the quality of services, and strengthening the resilience of communities.

The event brought together various high-profile attendees, including the high commissioners of the provinces, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Tenkodogo, judicial authorities, the Regional Director of Transport and Mobility of Nakamb©, regional directors, and representatives of socio-professional organizations of transporters. The presence of truck drivers, driving school promoters, and license plate dealers underscored the broad interest in the discussions.

The strong mobilization of stakeholders highlights the significance placed on these consultations, which aim to establish a foundation for a safer, more efficient, and more resilient land transport system in Burkina Faso.
