Oloika: South Rift Region elected leaders have expressed their approval of the current administration, highlighting its efforts in addressing the needs of the Maa community, particularly in the fields of environmental conservation and education. Leading the commendation was National Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, who acknowledged the resolution of the Maasai Mau Forest issue, which had been contentious during the election period. President William Ruto’s issuance of the forest’s title deed to the county government was a significant step in resolving the matter.
According to Kenya News Agency, the commendations were made during a church service held in Oloika, Narok East Sub County. Joining Cheruiyot were Members of Parliament Gabriel Tongoyo (Narok West), Hillary Kosgei (Kipkellion West), and former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai. Cheruiyot praised President Ruto for promoting unity among Kenyans and ensuring equitable development across the nation, as mandated by the constitution.
In the realm of education, the Senate Majority Leader noted the administration’s efforts to enhance education standards by employing over 70,000 teachers and planning to recruit an additional 24,000. He highlighted the construction of over 24,000 classrooms in the past three years as an initiative to improve the learning environment for students. Cheruiyot emphasized that the current administration has employed a significant portion of the teacher population, marking a notable achievement in the education sector.
Former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai urged the Maa community to support the administration, citing numerous development projects initiated by President Ruto in Narok County, despite the county’s previous electoral support for the opposition. Tunai cautioned against being misled by leaders with personal agendas.
MP Gabriel Tongoyo encouraged the Maa community to respect and honor their elected leaders, asserting that leadership is divinely ordained. He also remarked on the positive progress of the new university funding model, noting that a substantial portion of the budget was allocated to the education sector, reflecting the administration’s commitment to educational advancement.
