The Ambassador of Cuba in Guinea Bissau participated this Saturday in the commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Association of Young Pan-Africanists of Guinea Bissau (AJOPAR). This is an organization that aims to follow the ideas of pan-Africanism and fights for freedom in Africa and supports socialist ideas. The Hon. Mr. Eldan Rafael Dominguez Fortty, Ambassador of Venezuela in Guinea Bissau.
The leaders of the Association of Young Pan-Africanists who spoke referred to the organization’s history of challenges in these times and to being faithful to the legacy of the founding father of the Guinean nation, Amilcar Cabral, they also thanked the help that Cuba has provided since the struggle for independence and at the present time in the training of doctors for the health system of Guinea Bissau, which the people recognize and appreciate significantly.
When intervening, the Cuban Ambassador thanked the Association’s directors for inviting him to commemorate with them such a significant date as the 20th anniversary of its foundation; he exhorted them to continue studying and preparing themselves so that they can be more useful to the development of the country that so badly needs young professionals committed to their country.
The Ambassador took the opportunity to comment on the results achieved by Cuba in the confrontation with Covid-19, meaning the obtaining of 3 vaccines and 2 vaccine candidates. This has allowed Cuba to be one of the countries that has a higher percentage of its population immunized in Latin America and the world, despite the strict economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government on the country. He also denounced the unjust exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the next Summit of the Americas to be held in Los Angeles, United States, from June 8 to 10.
